In a harrowing scene described by a resident, a violent incident unfolded in Dagenham, leaving a mother and her child severely injured. Davey Holland, a neighbour who rushed to help, shared his experience of the terrifying moments following the attack, during which he tried to save the baby’s life.
According to Davey, a woman came running down the street with a deep cut to her neck, screaming that her baby had been stabbed. “I ran down to her house, and we saw the man who’d done it—I’m sure it was the dad,” he said. Working with a police officer, David helped to restrain the suspect before breaking a window to get to the injured baby.

Inside the house, Davey described a horrifying scene with “blood everywhere.” The young child, initially sitting up, was in shock and hesitant to allow David to apply pressure to his neck injury. “When I opened the door, the mum came in and told him, ‘He’s going to help you.’ That’s when he let me put pressure around his neck,” Davey explained.
Tragically, David could see the child’s condition deteriorating as he lay the baby down on a table. In those crucial moments, David said he felt abandoned by other bystanders who, instead of aiding the child, were focused on the man who allegedly inflicted the injuries. “These people wouldn’t even come in and help me with the baby, leaving him there,” he said.

Approximately ten minutes later, paramedics and additional police arrived on the scene to assist Davey and attend to the injured. The baby and mother were both transported to a nearby hospital by emergency medical teams, and their conditions are yet to be confirmed by authorities.
Metropolitan Police have established a crime scene in Dagenham, and a full investigation is underway. Local residents are urged to stay clear of the area as detectives continue their inquiries.
