Remains Identified as Missing South Gloucestershire Man

Human remains discovered in a field in Emersons Green, South Gloucestershire, earlier this month have been identified as those of David Wilson, a 63-year-old man from Downend who was reported missing in late September.

David had not been seen since May 2024, and despite two public appeals for information regarding his whereabouts, no confirmed sightings were reported.

The remains were discovered on Tuesday, November 5, and a subsequent forensic examination has now confirmed the identification.

A police spokesperson said:
“David’s next of kin have been informed, and our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time. While we have found no evidence of suspicious circumstances, the death remains unexplained as a forensic post-mortem examination was inconclusive.”

Officers continue to appeal for information from anyone who may have seen David between May and November or who might have knowledge that could assist the investigation.
