Ifield Railway Station Assault: Police Seek Two Good Samaritans Who Helped Victim

Officers from British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault at Ifield railway station last week.

The incident occurred just after 8pm on Tuesday, March 11, when a woman was walking to exit the station. While on the footbridge, she was approached by a man who grabbed and sexually assaulted her.

Two members of the public intervened, helping the woman escape. Following the incident, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by touching. He has since been bailed while police continue their enquiries.

Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the assault or the actions of the suspect before or after the incident. They are also urging the two members of the public who intervened to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 724 of 11 March. Alternatively, reports can be made anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
