Borehamwood Residents Allowed to Return After Controlled Explosion

Police have confirmed that residents in Cowley Hill, Borehamwood have now been allowed to return to their homes after a suspicious object was made safe.

The object, discovered under a car on Saturday afternoon (16 August), was examined by the British Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. A controlled explosion was carried out before the device was safely removed.

A police spokesperson said:

“The suspicious object has been subject to a controlled explosion and has been safely removed. Residents are now able to return to their homes. We thank everyone for their patience and co-operation while emergency services worked to make the area safe.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and a small scene guard is still in place while officers continue enquiries.
