Swale Investigators Crack Down on Shop Theft: Suspect Charged with Multiple Offences
Five Arrested Following Serious Assault on Isle of Sheppey

Swale investigators are intensifying efforts to combat shop theft after multiple reports of stolen items from various stores in Sheerness. Kent Police received reports between Thursday, February 15, and Sunday, April 28, 2024, detailing thefts of items such as alcohol, meat, washing products, and cosmetics from seven different stores located in the High Street, Bridge Road, and Millenium Way. The total value of the stolen property exceeded £2,400.

On Sunday, April 28, an off-duty Metropolitan Police officer reported a suspicious incident in Sheerness town centre to local constables patrolling the area. Acting on this information, the constables promptly apprehended a man, later identified as Sean Mannough of Jefferson Road, Sheerness.

Following his arrest, Mannough was charged with ten counts of theft by investigators from the Swale Victim-Based Crime Team. Additionally, he faced a charge of criminal damage to a police station cell. The 41-year-old suspect was remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 29, 2024.
