Storm Gareth causing travel disruption as the Isle of Wight and Southcoast is battered

Storm Gareth has brought travel disruption to the south as strong winds gusting up to 60 mph batter the Isle of Wight and the Southcoast. The Met Office has issued several weather warnings as it confirmed another named storm will hit on Tuesday during the rush hour effect of many commuters. A yellow weather warning is in place across the Southcoast. Warnings for wind were issued by the Met office early on Monday afternoon. “Gusts of 50-55mph (80-88kmh) are likely inland and up to 65mph (104kmh) along the Southcoast. Winds will gradually ease during the afternoon.” The met office has warned there could be power cuts, and that coastal communities could be affected by large waves and spray. Weather warnings will continue throughout the week, with yellow warnings for wind in place throughout the day on Wednesday.
