Officers are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Oxford.

It happened between 1pm and 2pm on Sunday (11/10), when the victim, a teenage girl, was walking on the Blackbird Leys Bridge from Barns Road to Blackbird Leys Road when she was assaulted by a woman.

The victim was hit on the head multiple times and sustained minor injuries to her face and arms but did not require any medical treatment.

A man passing by helped the girl to her feet and the woman left the scene on foot.

The offender is described as a white woman in her mid-thirties, around 5ft 4in tall with an average build. She had long dark curly hair.

Investigating officer PC Samuel Booth, based at Cowley police station said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or was driving by at the time and might have caught the victim or offender on dash-cam footage, to please get in touch.

“I am particularly interested in speaking to the man who stopped to help the victim.
