Jail for Ramsgate man who caused knife injuries before crashing a car into a house Two women were left with knife wounds when they tried to defend themselves following an argument in Ramsgate. Kevin Jones, 29, of Bradley Road carried out the assaults following a disagreement inside a residential property on Wednesday 27 December 2017. The court heard how Jones had consumed drugs and alcohol on Tuesday evening and then lashed out at two women with a kitchen knife during the early hours of Wednesday. As a result they both suffered cuts to their arms, which had to be treated by paramedics. Jones then left the house and took a car without permission. He drove the vehicle around the area of Newington Road where he mounted the pavement, narrowly missing two pedestrians. He then damaged a fence and a tree before reversing the car three times into the wall of a house. A neighbour tried to restrain Jones but was kicked and suffered bruises to his hands and chest. He then got knocked down by the car Jones was driving when it lurched forward. A paramedic arrived at the scene and also attempted to stop Jones but was punched in the face. Kent Police officers arrived and he was arrested. Jones pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, two counts of wounding and two counts of assault. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday 10 May 2018. He has also been banned from driving and will have to take another driving test before he is allowed back on the road. Investigating officer PC Benjamin Clacy said: ‘Jones has shown he is an aggressive and temperamental individual who put many lives at risk during his rampage. ‘He could have caused serious injuries to several people who were in the house he collided with. He even attacked a paramedic who was trying to prevent further harm. I hope this sentence reassures the public that we will not tolerate such acts of violence and will do everything within our power to ensure incidents like this are fully investigated and that the perpetrators are convicted.’
