Major power outage hits part of Maidstone

Maidstone town centre has been struck by a power cut this morning (Monday). A chunk of town spanning Bank Street and surrounding roads in the ME14 area has been affected by the outage, reportedly caused by a fault in a piece of electrical equipment. Santander Bank in the effected area have been unable to service customers and cash machine are dead. Other businesses have also been effected a popular waterhole The Bren Haley has been unable to serve breakfasts or beers UK power networks say they are aware of the outage and aim to fix the fault by 1pm today. Engineers have been sent to investigate. More to follow
