The murder trial continues this morning in the case of murdered 16 year old Louise Smith from Havant, but the jury will not hear any evidence, they are being taken to key locations that form the prosecutions case to “simply observe”
The Murder Trial Continues This Morning In The Case Of Murdered 16 Year Old Louise Smith From Havant, But The Jury Will Not Hear Any Evidence, They Are Being Taken To Key Locations That Form The Prosecutions Case To "simply Observe"
 

Shane Lee Mays, 30 of Somborne Drive in Havant is accused of killing Louise after her body was discovered in the Havant Thicket woodland on the 21st May, following an extensive search of the area after she was last seen on the 8th of May this year.

The Judge, Jury, Prosecution and Defence barristers are in attendance with police and security.

Mrs Justice Juliet May DBE in court explained the process to the Jury last week and told them that they will be visiting locations including Havant Thicket where Louise’s body was discovered and other areas that are of particular relevance to this case’.

Whilst visiting locations today Jurors were pre warned that they must not talk at the scene about or discuss any part of the case on the site visit’s.

Mrs Justice May said, “We are effectively taking the court to the location, Jury members should also bring their masks although they will be socially distant,

After the site visit, the Jury will be taken back to the court where they will end the hearing for the day, with the Trial continuing to hear evidence tomorrow.
