Adelaide Avenue Brockley fire: Three people rushed to hospital

Three people have been taken to hospital following a serious house fire in Brockley, south-east London this morning.

Emergency services were called shortly after 8am to reports of a fire in Adelaide Avenue. The road was quickly sealed off in both directions between Brockley Road and Montague Avenue as firefighters tackled the blaze.

According to the London Ambulance Service, multiple resources were deployed, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance.

A spokesperson said:

“We were called at 8.06am to reports of a fire in Brockley Road, Brockley. We treated three patients at the scene and took them all to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

The condition of the three patients has not yet been confirmed.

At least four fire engines remain at the scene, with crews working alongside police and paramedics to make the area safe.

Travel disruption

The incident has caused significant disruption in the area. Adelaide Avenue remains closed, and congestion has built up on Brockley Road back towards Crofton Park. Bus diversions are in place, with the 122 route currently affected.

Ongoing response

Residents reported thick smoke and a large emergency service presence throughout the morning. Firefighters are still on scene hours later, though the fire is now under control.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known, and an investigation will be launched once it is safe to enter the building.
