Body Discovered in River Thames Near Greenwich

A woman has been taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Thames in Greenwich.

Police were alerted to concerns for the safety of a woman at Olympian Way just before 7.30pm yesterday (June 9). Emergency services quickly responded to the scene.

The woman was successfully rescued from the river and transported to a hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Her next of kin have been informed of her condition.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Olympian Way, SE10 at about 19:26hrs on Sunday, 9 June following concerns for the safety of a woman who entered the water.

“Police were later notified that the woman had been rescued and taken to hospital, where she remains for treatment. Her next of kin have been made aware.”
