Police received a call shortly after 3 p.m. today (24/07) regarding a disturbance in The Parade.

When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered a man in his 30s with a serious neck injury. He was taken to the hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area and arrested a 30-year-old local man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He is currently detained at Gablecross Police Station.

I know this incident will have caused concern amongst the local community, particularly given that it occurred during a busy Sunday afternoon in the town centre,” said Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy of Swindon CID.

“I am pleased to report that we made an arrest quickly and have a suspect in custody.”

“Our investigations are ongoing, and we would like to encourage anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police to please contact us.”
