Thirty Firefighters Tackle Terrace House Fire in Portsmouth

Crews from Southsea, Cosham, Portchester, Havant and St Mary’s have tackled a fire in a terraced house property in Hilsea, Portsmouth. The fire spread internally through the house seriously damaging three properties. The fire was very hard to contain and unfortunately fire and smoke also spread through the roof space and damaged eight properties in total. No one was injured during the incident and all residents were accounted for. One resident’s West Highland Terrier was treated by our animal rescue specialist, having suffered several burns and is now in the care of a vet. Crews tackled the fire with 12 sets of breathing apparatus, 3 jets, 6 hose reels and St Mary’s aerial ladder platform to help tackle the fire spread in the roof space. The cause of the fire is still to be investigated.
