A stolen vehicle crashed in Croydon early Friday morning after failing to stop for police officers on patrol, prompting a large emergency response and sending one man to a major trauma centre.

At around 5:50am, officers spotted the stolen vehicle travelling along Whitehorse Road and attempted to stop it. The driver failed to comply and shortly after collided with another vehicle at the junction of Devonshire Road and Whitehorse Road.

Emergency Services Respond

Emergency crews from the London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade, and the Metropolitan Police attended the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“We were called at 6.01am today (28 March) to reports of a road traffic collision on Whitehorse Road, Croydon.
We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.
We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

The 38-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle was taken to hospital where his condition was later assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
