A section of the A3 Clapham High Street remains closed this morning following a stabbing incident that occurred late last night.

Police and emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway of Clapham High Street, between Bedford Road (Clapham North Station) and Aristotle Road, shortly after 9:15 PM on Thursday, 10 April.

The incident took place under the railway bridge, prompting a significant response from Metropolitan Police units and London Ambulance Service. Officers quickly cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack. The condition of the victim has not yet been officially released.

Road Closures and Diversions

As a result of the police investigation, the A3 remains closed southbound, and a diversion is in place for several bus routes, including the 50, 88, 155, 322, and 345. Despite the closure, traffic is reported to be coping well.

Commuters are advised to avoid the area if possible and allow extra time for travel.

Police Appeal

The Metropolitan Police have yet to make any arrests and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. A police source said:

“We are investigating a serious assault on Clapham High Street. If you saw anything or have dash cam or CCTV footage, please contact us immediately.”

Community Reaction

Local residents have expressed concern over the rising number of violent incidents in the area. “It’s really unsettling,” one Clapham resident told reporters. “That’s a busy stretch of road, especially at night with people out and about. It’s frightening to think something like this could happen there.”

Ongoing Investigation

The area is expected to remain cordoned off through the morning while forensic officers carry out their work. Authorities have not provided a timeline for when the road will fully reopen.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting the location and time of the incident, or to reach out anonymously via Crimestoppers.

This is a developing story. More updates will follow as new information becomes available.
