Sixth Arrest Made in Rikki Berry Murder Investigation
Sixth Arrest Made in Rikki Berry Murder Investigation

Merseyside Police have made a significant advancement in the murder case of 36-year-old Rikki Berry, who was fatally shot in a targeted attack in Quarryside Drive, Knowsley, on July 17. A 26-year-old man from the Kirkby area was arrested on suspicion of murder, marking the second arrest related to this case.

This latest arrest follows the detention of a 20-year-old man last week, also on suspicion of murder. Mr Berry tragically succumbed to his injuries in hospital shortly after the attack. With this new development, the total number of people arrested in connection with Mr Berry’s death has risen to six.

In addition to the arrests for murder, two women, aged 19 and 50, along with a 22-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy—all from Prescot—have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have since been bailed pending further investigations.

Vehicle of Interest

As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives have released photographs of a vehicle they believe is connected to the crime—a black Seat Ateca Cupra with the registration plate YT20 XVN. The car, which features a distinctive GB sticker with a blue background, was seized in Prescot last Friday.

Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings emphasized the need for public assistance in tracking the movements of this vehicle before and after the murder. She urged anyone in the Prescot area to review footage from dash cams, CCTV, or doorbell cameras that might have captured the car.

“Our enquiries are moving at a fast pace,” said DCI Cummings. We now need the public’s help in tracing the movements of the car prior to the murder and afterwards.

Call for Public Assistance

Merseyside Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the black Seat Ateca Cupra, or who may have video footage of it, to come forward. Information provided by the public could be crucial in piecing together the events leading up to and following the tragic shooting of Mr. Berry.

The investigation continues to develop, and authorities remain committed to bringing those responsible to justice. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Merseyside Police or leave an anonymous tip with Crimestoppers to assist in the ongoing case.
