Sexual Predator Caught Near Police Station Sentenced

A sexual predator, Daniel Boyd, 31, has been apprehended after arranging to meet a 14-year-old girl for sexual purposes, just meters away from a police station. Boyd had sent explicit messages and explicit images to the supposed young girl, culminating in a planned rendezvous for sexual activity. However, upon his arrival at Bromley South Station with condoms and lubricant in tow, Boyd found himself confronted by individuals from a vigilante group dedicated to exposing child predators.

Boyd, a resident of Dagonet Gardens in Bromley, appeared before Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, November 3. He had previously pleaded guilty to several charges, including meeting a girl following grooming, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and attempting to induce a child to view explicit content.

The court sentenced Boyd to a one-year prison term, which has been suspended for two years, indicating that he will not serve time behind bars unless he reoffends during this period.

The details of the case were presented in court, revealing that Boyd initiated contact with the victim via Facebook on July 7. During their conversation, the victim disclosed her age as 14, while Boyd revealed his age as 31. He proceeded to send explicit photographs of himself to the minor and urged her to reciprocate with explicit images. Subsequently, he arranged to meet her at Bromley South Station on July 18, making it clear that the purpose of their meeting was for sexual activity and instructing her to book a hotel room.

When confronted by the vigilante group, Boyd expressed remorse, acknowledging the error of his actions and pleading not to be imprisoned. By 8:40 pm on the same day, he was placed under arrest.

In his defence, Boyd’s lawyer, Tihomir Mak, emphasized his client’s genuine remorse and lack of prior criminal history. Additionally, Mak cited Boyd’s challenging upbringing in Jamaica and mental health issues as contributing factors to his behaviour.

During sentencing, Recorder Joshua Swirsky condemned Boyd’s actions as serious criminal conduct and opted for a sentence aimed at protecting the public and addressing Boyd’s behaviour. Boyd has been ordered to complete a 60-day intervention program, 45 days of rehabilitation, and 150 hours of unpaid work. Furthermore, he will be required to register as a sex offender for ten years.
