Serious Crash Closes A2 London-Bound Near M25 – Long Delays Expected

The A2 London-bound is currently closed following a serious multi-vehicle collision near the M25 junction, with emergency services responding to the scene throughout the afternoon.

The incident occurred earlier today (Saturday) on the A2 westbound, close to junction 2 of the M25, causing extensive traffic disruption and triggering a full-scale emergency response. National Highways has classified the crash as a “serious collision” involving an overturned vehicle.

Fire and Ambulance Response

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at approximately 3.14pm to reports of a crash involving four vehicles just before the M25 turnoff near Dartford.

Three fire engines were dispatched, and the road was temporarily closed while firefighters managed the scene and isolated one of the hybrid vehicles involved for safety.

Paramedics Treat Five at Scene

South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) were also in attendance and treated five people at the scene. The extent of their injuries has not yet been confirmed.

Traffic Disruption and Delays

According to AA Maps, three lanes remain closed on the westbound A2 and traffic is currently expected to remain disrupted until around 7pm. There are tailbacks reported as far as Gravesend and Tollgate Services.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible and expect long delays as recovery work continues.

Alternative Routes

National Highways recommends that road users allow extra time for their journeys, consider re-routing, or delay travel plans while the situation is managed.
