A serious road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle has led to the closure of the A12 in both directions between junction 29 near Colchester and junction 30 at Stratford St Mary in Essex.
Emergency services, including Essex Police, are currently on the scene, with National Highways contractors assisting in traffic management efforts.
The closure of the A12 is expected to cause significant delays for motorists travelling in the area.
Diversion Routes:
Southbound:
- Exit the A12 southbound at junction 31 Four Sisters and follow the B1070 through East Bergholt to the B1070/A137 roundabout.
- At the roundabout, take the third exit and continue on the A137 through Manningtree, Lawford, and Ardleigh to the twin roundabouts with the A133.
- Take the second exit at the roundabout and follow the A133 to the twin roundabouts with the A1232.
- Continue on the A1232 and rejoin the A12 southbound at junction 29 Crown.
Northbound:
- Exit the A12 at junction 29 Crown and follow the A1232 to the twin roundabouts in Colchester.
- At the roundabouts, take the first exit onto the A133 and continue to the twin roundabouts with the A137.
- Take the first exit at the roundabout and follow the A137 through Ardleigh, Lawford, Manningtree, Cattawade, and Brantham to junction 56 Wherstead on the A14.
- Take the first exit onto the A14 towards London and continue to the A12S interchange at Copdock Mill.
Motorists are advised to follow these diversion routes and expect delays while the road closure remains in place.
