Scumbags target Portsdown Church in Widley and steal of Poppy Collection Tin

Callous thieves broke into a church in Widley causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage and stealing Poppy Appeal collection tins. The burglars struck at Christ Church Portsdown, in London Road, Widley sometime between 4pm on Friday and 8.55am the following day. Detectives say the front doors of the church had been forced open and damaged. The burglars then rampaged through the church ripping open and stealing the contents from both Royal British Legion collection tins and a collection box on the wall of the church. Anyone with any information, or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in London Road over the weekend, is urged to call police on 101 quoting reference number 441 7042 9534.
