Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses following a harrowing incident where two children were the targets of an attempted robbery involving a saw. The event, which occurred in the City area of Heaton, has left the community shaken and authorities are determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.

A terrifying incident unfolded on Tuesday shortly before 11:00 AM when a 14-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister were confronted by an unknown man while walking through Warwick Street in Heaton. The suspect, reportedly armed with a saw, demanded money from the young girl.

As the siblings attempted to flee, the man grabbed the girl. Fortunately, both children managed to escape unharmed, though they were understandably shaken by the ordeal. No property was stolen during the incident.

Northumbria Police are now searching for a white male, described as being between 5’10” and 5’11” tall. The most distinguishing feature reported was that the suspect was carrying a saw with a red handle. The man was last seen heading towards Warwick Street after the failed robbery attempt.

Authorities have commended the children for their bravery in reporting the incident. In response to the attack, there has been an increased police presence in the area, with officers conducting thorough inquiries.
