Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has declared a critical incident due to widespread external IT issues impacting its services.
In a statement, the trust said: “Royal Surrey has declared a critical incident due to external IT issues which are widely affecting services including ours.” The statement highlighted that the issue has specifically affected the IT system used to deliver radiotherapy treatment.
The trust has contacted patients scheduled for radiotherapy this morning to reschedule their appointments. An update from the hospital confirmed that it is now able to deliver radiotherapy services, and this afternoon’s appointments will proceed as planned.
We hope these systems will be up and running soon and will directly contact patients who are due to have radiotherapy appointments if we are unable to deliver their treatments,” the trust added. “Please attend your appointments unless you have heard otherwise.”
However, the trust warned that there might still be some disruption to the radiotherapy system, potentially affecting appointments into the next week. “Please continue to attend your appointment unless you are contacted directly,” the statement concluded.
The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust provides services for several hospitals in the county, and the IT issues have caused significant disruption across its operations. The trust is working diligently to resolve the situation and ensure that patient care continues with minimal interruption
