Round-Up of Recent Cases at Bromley and Bexley Magistrates’ Courts

 

A number of offenders appeared before Bromley and Bexley Magistrates’ Courts between Monday, April 7 and Friday, April 11, facing charges ranging from burglary and knife possession to being unlawfully at large.


Prisoner Unlawfully at Large

Dean Spence, 56, of Mercator Road, Lewisham, pleaded guilty to being unlawfully at large after failing to return to HMP Standford Hill following a period of temporary release.

He was sentenced to eight months in prison.


Thamesmead Burglary

James Bennett, 36, of Woodstock Road, Walthamstow, admitted burgling a property on New Acres Road, Thamesmead with the intent to cause damage on February 20, 2023.

He received a two-month prison sentence.


Co-op Theft in Abbey Wood

Jake Tomkinson, 31, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of stealing from a Co-op store in Abbey Wood and carrying a lockable knife in public on January 29.

He was jailed for four weeks.


Deptford Man Caught with Knife and Drugs

Daniel Rich, 53, of Abinger Grove, Deptford, admitted to possessing cocaine and a kitchen knife in public on Evelyn Street on January 25.

He was handed a four-month prison sentence, suspended for one year.
