A collision involving a single vehicle has seen a road closure put in place by officers from Hampshire Constabulary on the Isle of Wight in the early hours of Wednesday morning. It is understood that the collision took place just after midnight. Police have closed part of Staplers Road in Newport on the bend by the Isle of Wight Lavender farm following a single vehicle collision involving red Renault. The driver is understood to have lost closed control on the sharp accident black spot and ploughed into a hedge and hit a tree after the car skidded has turned 180 degrees. The front end of the vehicle has been severely smashed and back end of the car has come to rest in the hedge. Southern Vehicle has said that the remaining route number 9 via Staplers will divert via Fairlee until the end of service tonight. This is due to a non-bus-related collision They apologise saying the this beyond their control deviation from route. Police have cone off one side of the road where the vehicle remains to wait for Police recovery contractors. It is unclear if the driver has been injured as a result of the collision both airbags in the vehicle have been deployed. More to Follow
