Rail Disruption Warning: c2c Passengers in East London and Essex Face Week-Long Engineering Works
Passengers travelling on the c2c rail network through east London and Essex are being warned of significant disruption due to planned engineering works taking place from Monday 14 April through Easter Sunday 20 April.
The works will affect multiple lines and key stations, with service diversions, replacement buses, and amended timetables in place. Commuters and holiday travellers are urged to check before they travel and plan ahead for alternative routes.
Disruption Schedule
Monday 14 – Thursday 17 April
- Basildon Line: From 10:45pm, trains between Barking and Pitsea via Laindon will be diverted, skipping:
Rail replacement buses will operate between Upminster and Pitsea via Laindon.
District Line acceptance: Tickets valid on the District line between Barking and Upminster.
- Ockendon Line: From 10:45pm, services between Upminster and Grays via Ockendon will also be diverted, skipping:
- Upminster
- Ockendon
- Chafford Hundred
Replacement buses will serve these stations.
District Line acceptance also in place.
Friday 18 April (Good Friday)
- A Sunday timetable will operate on all c2c lines.
Saturday 19 April
- No planned disruption. Services will operate normally.
Sunday 20 April (Easter Sunday)
Basildon Line
- Services between Liverpool Street and Barking, and between Basildon and Leigh-on-Sea will be affected.
- Trains will start and terminate at Fenchurch Street and Basildon, calling at West Ham only.
No stop at Stratford.
Replacement buses will run between Basildon and Leigh-on-Sea.
Train shuttle between Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness.
Tickets valid on Jubilee line between Stratford and West Ham.
c2c season ticket holders may use Greater Anglia services between Southend Victoria and London Liverpool Street.
Ockendon Line & Stanford-le-Hope to Pitsea
- Services start/terminate at Stanford-le-Hope.
Replacement buses between Stanford-le-Hope and Leigh-on-Sea.
Train shuttle from Leigh-on-Sea to Shoeburyness.
Rainham Line
- No services between Barking and Grays via Rainham.
Replacement buses from Upminster to Grays via Rainham and Purfleet.
Tickets accepted on TfL buses EL2 and 287 for Dagenham Dock access.
Advice to Passengers
A c2c spokesperson advised:
“We strongly recommend checking your journey plans before travelling, especially during the evenings and over the Easter weekend. Replacement buses and ticket interchanges are in place, and we’re doing all we can to keep passengers moving.”
