RAF Serviceman Arrested for Alleged Rape of British Tourist in Majorca

A serving RAF serviceman has been apprehended in Majorca following allegations of rape made by a British holidaymaker at a four-star hotel in Magaluf. The 27-year-old suspect, believed to have been in Majorca for a rugby tournament with friends, was escorted to court in Palma after being detained by authorities.

The victim, a 21-year-old British woman, reported to the police that the accused had sexually assaulted her on the terrace of the Magaluf Hotel around 5 am on Monday. She recounted meeting the suspect at a bar in the party resort earlier that evening and spending time with him on the beach before the alleged assault occurred.

According to the victim’s statement, the suspect forcefully engaged in sexual activity with her, tearing her dress and subjecting her to a sex act before raping her. Civil Guard officers identified the suspect after the victim filed a formal complaint and intercepted him at Palma Airport as he attempted to board a flight back to the UK.

The suspect appeared in court in handcuffs for a closed-door hearing to determine whether he would be remanded in custody or released pending further investigation. Meanwhile, the victim’s whereabouts remain unclear, although she is expected to testify before the judge to corroborate her initial statement.

Forensic medical examinations were conducted as part of the investigation. While the Civil Guard has yet to make an official statement, sources familiar with the case revealed that the suspect is a member of the UK armed forces, stationed in Britain but born abroad.

The arrest of the RAF serviceman comes amid heightened scrutiny of sexual assault cases involving British tourists in Majorca. Last year, a British 18-year-old was allegedly gang-raped at a hotel in Magaluf, leading to several arrests and an ongoing judicial investigation. In a separate incident earlier this year, a British tourist received a four-year prison sentence for raping a female acquaintance in a Magaluf hotel room.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities in Majorca continue to probe the allegations against the RAF serviceman, underscoring the importance of safeguarding tourists and maintaining public safety in the popular holiday destination.
