Boston police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a man suspected of stealing a car that had an infant in the back seat, subsequently abandoning the child on the side of the road. The incident occurred near Geneva Avenue, close to Leroy Street, shortly before 15.00prompting immediate concern for the child’s well-being.

According to authorities, the suspect drove off with the stolen vehicle, leaving the baby behind. Surveillance footage captured the alarming moment when the suspect left the child on the side of the road at the intersection of Geneva and Columbia Road. Fortunately, the baby was discovered abandoned but unharmed, just a block away from the carjacking scene.

Following the incident, the baby has been safely reunited with their family, bringing relief to all involved. However, the search for the suspect remains ongoing, as law enforcement authorities intensify their efforts to apprehend the individual responsible for this unsettling crime.

While the stolen vehicle has been located, no suspects have been taken into custody thus far. In an effort to aid the investigation, police have released images of the man they are seeking in connection with the case. These images serve as crucial evidence and may assist the public in identifying the suspect.

Residents in the area, such as Dorchester resident Jose Cruz, expressed their concern about the incident and emphasized the importance of personal safety. “It’s dangerous. I got like four babies. I’m a grandfather, you know, I’ve got two grandbabies right now. And with stuff like that, I even tell my daughter even pumping gas is dangerous around here,” Cruz stated, highlighting the need for vigilance in such situations.

Further details regarding the incident, including the motive behind the carjacking and the identity of the suspect, were not immediately available. Boston Police are urging anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward and provide assistance.
