Police Investigate Alleged Rape Near Chatham GP Surgery – UKNIP

Police are currently conducting an investigation into an alleged rape that occurred near a GP surgery in Chatham. A grassed area opposite the Bryant Medical Centre was cordoned off earlier this morning as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Officers were alerted to the incident at 4 am on Tuesday 18th July 2023 when a report was made regarding a woman who had been subjected to a sexual assault between Bryant Street and New Road. Additionally, a grass verge leading to the Upper Mount car park, situated across from the Seventh Day Adventist Church, was also taped off by officers.

A spokesperson for the police stated, “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing,” indicating that investigators are actively working to gather information and evidence related to the case.

The local community and residents in the area are urged to cooperate with the police and provide any relevant information that may assist in the investigation. Authorities are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness and are dedicated to ensuring a thorough and comprehensive inquiry.
