Person pulled from water and flown to hospital by helicopter

The RNLI has confirmed a lifeboat was called to rescue a man from the water in Netley Southampton this evening following a medical emergency (Tuesday 25th July). A RNLI spokesman said the call came in at : “It was a report of a person struggling in the water, it turned out it was yards from where a training exercise was taking place by the local Costguard search and rescue (CRT) team . The coastguard helicopter was scrambled as well. “Calshot lifeboat was on scene and transferred the seriously ill person to the Costguard Rescue helicopter they were them flown to Southampton to be than transferred by land ambulance to Southampton General hospital. A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 9pm to Beach Lane in Netley Abbey, where ambulance crews and specialist paramedics assessed the patient.
