Officers Issues A Warning To Potential Drug Smugglers Following A Series Of Cannabis Seizures From Passengers Flying From Los Angeles In The United States

Eleven people have been detained in the last eight days after arriving from Los Angeles. Following the arrests, officers say they will conduct additional checks on passengers using that route.

Home Office Border Force officers seized between 30 and 50 kilos of cannabis in checked-in baggage in each case. More than 400 kilos have now been seized in total.

According to NCA experts, cannabis from California, where it is legal to grow, commands a higher price for UK criminal organisations.

Our investigations are ongoing, but couriers who bring illegal drugs into the UK play a significant role in fueling organised crime. As a result, those caught face harsh prison sentences.
