Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, narrowly avoided a potentially dangerous situation on Tuesday when an unidentified man hurled a missile at him during a campaign event. The incident occurred while Farage was standing atop the party’s open-top campaign bus in Barnsley.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailant began throwing objects at Farage, prompting the politician to quickly duck for cover. Farage later revealed that he believed the projectiles included a coffee cup and some cement debris from a nearby construction site. Fortunately, neither object struck him.

South Yorkshire Police swiftly apprehended the 28-year-old suspect, who is now in custody on suspicion of public order offences. Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the attack, but Farage expressed gratitude to the police for their prompt response.
