Met Police Officer Found Guilty of Gross Misconduct Over Inappropriate Photos
A serving officer has been suspended from duty after being charged with rape

A Metropolitan Police officer has been found guilty of gross misconduct after taking inappropriate photos of his exposed genitalia at various locations within police stations. These shocking actions occurred over seven years, from 2014 to 2021, while the officer was on duty.

The discovery of these explicit photos came to light during an unrelated investigation. The officer, who had been suspended from duty before his resignation in November 2023, faced a misconduct hearing on January 5. However, the officer’s name has not been released to the public following a directive from a legally qualified chair during the private hearing. This decision was made to prevent any potential prejudice to ongoing criminal proceedings.

Had the officer not resigned, he would have faced termination from the Met Police force. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated, “This behaviour falls far below the standard rightly expected by the public. The Commissioner has been clear that officers who do not meet these standards have no place in the Met.

The Met Police is committed to maintaining public trust and will continue to take action against individuals whose actions undermine that trust. The officer in question will be added to the Barred List maintained by the College of Policing. Individuals on this list are prohibited from being employed by police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding the highest ethical and professional standards within law enforcement agencies, as any breach of trust can erode the public’s confidence in the police force.
