Merseyside Police Appeal for Information Following Sexual Assault on Wirral Bus – UKNIP

Merseyside Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted while travelling on a bus in Wirral. The incident occurred on the Arriva 437 service, heading towards Birkenhead, around 12:10 PM on Friday, April 26.

Incident Details:

  • Location: The bus stopped at Claughton Village, opposite Birkenhead Sixth Form College.
  • Assault: Two males boarded the bus and sat next to the victim. They engaged in conversation with her before one of them sexually assaulted her.
  • Intervention: Other passengers on the bus intervened and alerted the driver, who promptly stopped the bus. The assailants exited near Birkenhead Park station.

Merseyside Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to trace, believing he could provide crucial information for their investigation.

Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson emphasised the seriousness of the incident, stating: “This was a distressing incident for the victim, and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice. We urge anyone who recognises the man in the image to come forward as they may have vital information.”
