In a significant rescue operation that started just before 11pm on Saturday evening, emergency services responded to a medical emergency aboard the Tui passenger cruise ship MEIN SCHIFF 3, which was traversing the English Channel on its journey from Las Palmas to Bremerhaven, Germany.
Emergency on MEIN SCHIFF 3
The passenger ship declared a medical emergency after a passenger was reported to be unable to walk. In response to the urgent situation, the ship made attempts to enter the Port of Dover.

Rescue Efforts
The Port of Dover dispatched a pilot to assist in the emergency, and the RNLI Dungeness lifeboat was also sent to aid in the rescue operation.

However, due to the challenging conditions, it was not possible to transfer the casualty from the cruise ship.

Coastguard Helicopter Scrambled
As the situation escalated, the Coastguard rescue helicopter Rescue 163 from Lydd was scrambled to the scene.

Airlift to Hospital
The patient was airlifted to William Harvey Hospital for treatment, arriving just 4am on Sunday. The swift and coordinated actions of the rescue teams played a crucial role in ensuring the passenger received the necessary medical attention.
