Man Sentenced To Six Years And Six Months In Prison After Drugs Were Discovered

A 44-year-old Sheffield man was sentenced to six years and six months in prison after drugs were discovered hidden in his car stereo.

Officers were out on patrol on Rustlings Road in Nethergreen on June 21, 2022, when their attention was drawn to a blue Audi that was known to police.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and discovered the defendant, Zahid Rehman, along with two iPhones.

The vehicle was searched, and officers discovered a freezer bag full of smaller clear bags with white powder inside after noticing the stereo was loose at the sides.

“When we got Rehman into custody, he was subjected to a more thorough search, and a large amount of cash and another mobile phone were seized,” said PC Ross Thorndyke.

The phones were subjected to a forensic examination and numerous text messages that revealed Rehman’s role in supplying and dealing drugs were found.

The white powder was also submitted for forensic testing and confirmed to be cocaine, a Class A drug.

“Drugs have such a significant impact on individuals and families within our communities, we will not stand for individuals who seek to supply dangerous substances on our streets. I am pleased that Rehman pleaded guilty and that he will serve time in prison for his crime.

At an earlier hearing on December 8, 2022, Rehman, formerly of Chesterfield Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday (13 January).
