A major emergency response is underway in central London after a man was reported to be on the roof of the New Zealand High Commission in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to New Zealand House, near Trafalgar Square, shortly after 3.30am on Friday following reports of a man at height.
Specialist Crews Deployed
The Metropolitan Police responded quickly to the alert, deploying specialist rope-trained officers, while London Fire Brigade attended with multiple crews, including an aerial ladder platform to assist in accessing the roof safely.
According to a source, building security were alerted after spotting the man on CCTV. Police were called immediately as the individual was seen moving across the roof of the embassy building.
A cordon has been established around the scene, and several fire engines and specialist response vehicles from the London Ambulance service remain stationed nearby.
Witnesses have described a heavy emergency service presence, with officers and fire crews actively managing the situation.
Situation Ongoing
At this stage, the man’s motives remain unclear, and it is not known whether he is in communication with police negotiators or has made any demands.
Police at the scene have confirmed the incident is ongoing and have urged members of the public to avoid the area for their safety and to allow emergency services to work without obstruction.
