Kent Police responded to a distress call on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 8 a.m. The call reported an assault at a residential property located in Styles Close, Four Elms, near Edenbridge. Emergency medical services from the South East Coast Ambulance Service also swiftly arrived at the scene.

Tragically, despite the efforts of medical responders, a 51-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following an extensive investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, Huseyin Kalyoncu, aged 33, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. It has been revealed that Kalyoncu was acquainted with the victim.

On the subsequent day, Kalyoncu was formally charged with murder by the authorities. He appeared before the Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 7, where he was remanded in custody.

The legal proceedings are set to continue, with Kalyoncu’s next hearing scheduled at the Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, May 9.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community of Four Elms, prompting an outpouring of sympathy for the victim’s loved ones. Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
