Eddwin Cortes-Pinerez, a 39-year-old resident of Mitcham Lane, SW16, has been charged with multiple counts of sexual touching following a string of incidents in south-east London. The Metropolitan Police arrested Cortes-Pinerez on July 25 after a thorough investigation into eight separate assaults reported between July 3 and July 24.

The suspect, reportedly involved in attacks while riding a bicycle, allegedly approached women and touched them over their clothing. The assaults occurred in various locations across Greenwich, including Aldeburgh Street, Vanbrugh Hill, Halstow Road, Roan Street, Stratheden Road, Greenwich South Street, Oldfield Grove, and Moorhead Way.

Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Handscombe, part of the team leading the investigation, emphasized the Metropolitan Police’s commitment to addressing violence against women and girls. “The whole of the Met is committed to doing much more to identify and tackle the most dangerous and prolific offenders,” said Handscombe. He encouraged any victims to come forward, assuring them that they would be heard and supported.

Cortes-Pinerez is scheduled to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 29. He faces charges under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, relating to the series of assaults.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are appealing to the public for any further information. Members of the community who may have witnessed these incidents or have relevant details are urged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting reference CAD 4297/28JUL24.
