Man Arrested After Reports of Knife Threats in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge

 

A 30-year-old man has been arrested following reports that he threatened members of the public with a kitchen knife during a disturbance in Tunbridge Wells.

Kent Police were called at 7.37pm on Friday, 11 April, to Dorking Road, where it was reported that a man had been seen brandishing a knife and making threats towards several people. The suspect then fled the scene before officers arrived.

A police helicopter was deployed to assist with the search for the suspect, while officers on the ground conducted patrols and engaged with witnesses.

Second Incident in Tonbridge

Later that night, at around 10.40pm, police received further reports of a disturbance linked to the same suspect outside an address in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge. Officers widened their search, focusing on areas near Vauxhall Lane.

The search concluded at approximately 12.50am on Saturday, 12 April, when police located and arrested the suspect. He was found with injuries requiring hospital treatment and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred into police custody.

Investigation Ongoing

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:

“We take all reports of violent or threatening behaviour extremely seriously. Thanks to a swift response by officers, assisted by the National Police Air Service, a suspect was identified and arrested.”

Police confirmed that no members of the public were reported injured in either incident. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
