Major House Fire in Streatham – 70 Firefighters Battle Blaze on Woodbourne Avenue

A significant fire broke out at a residential property on Woodbourne Avenue in Streatham yesterday, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade.

Emergency services were first alerted at 4:39pm (14 May), after which ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were deployed from nearby stations including Tooting, Norbury, and West Norwood.

The loft area of the house was ablaze, but fortunately, seven people evacuated the building safely before crews arrived. No injuries have been reported.

firefighters used a 32-metre turntable ladder as a water tower to attack the fire from above and bring it under control. The blaze was fully contained by 7:31pm, approximately three hours after the first emergency call.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed:

“Crews worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading further. We’re grateful that all residents got out safely.”

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation
