Updated:Major emergency response following incident on Culver down on the Isle of Wight

A major search operation has been launched Culver down near Sandown on the Isle of Wight this lunchtime . Two coastguard teams a helicopter lifeboat and police have all been been mobilised. Officers from Hampshire Constabulary were first called following a concern for welfare just after 11am. The incident has since grown involving a number of pet welfare agencies. Police are working with the UK coastguard in the search operation and have asked for special support from the coastguard who are providing two cliff rescue teams Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor have have sent sent and an order to launch the Bembridge RNLI’s lifeboat has been made. The RNLI’s inshore lifeboat conducting a search of the rocks below the cliff face. Whilst the Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 from Lee-on-Solent is now is conducting an aerial search of the area. A second inshore lifeboat has also been called out to assist with the concern for welfare. A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We are currently making enquiries at Culver Down following concerns raised at 10.53am for the welfare of a person at this location”. UPDATE: More search assets have been called to search the for high risk missing person. The Isle of Wight volunteers from WightSAR have been called to assist other Teams with a search now covering most of Culver down. UPDATE:Good news the missing person has been found safe and well, Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that the man in his 20’s has been located just after 2pm today
