RUFF JUSTICE Maidstone Sex Offender Jailed After Police Dog Detects Invisible DNA

A Maidstone man has been sentenced to over seven years in prison after a police dog detected invisible DNA evidence linking him to multiple child sex offences.

Grooming and Assault in Quarry Road

Lloyd Cundall, 27, of Brenchley Road, used social media platforms to groom his teenage victim, convincing her to meet in secluded locations around Quarry Road, including woodlands and alleyways.

Once away from the public eye, Cundall plied the girl with cocaine, cannabis, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and alcohol before pressuring her into performing sexual acts.

Police Dog Belle Finds Invisible DNA

Cundall was arrested on 24 September 2024, and during the investigation, Police Dog Belle helped locate key DNA evidence at the scene. The samples were invisible to the naked eye and might have otherwise been missed due to adverse weather conditions.

DC Laura Bowness from Kent Police said:

“PD Belle was easily able to indicate where the offence took place. Her contribution was crucial, particularly after heavy rain threatened to wash away evidence.”

 Court Outcome

Cundall was charged with eight counts of sexual activity with a child and pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court.

On 21 May 2025, he was sentenced to:

Detective Statement

DC Bowness added:

“A lengthy custodial sentence is fitting of Cundall’s abhorrent crimes. He exploited a vulnerable girl, showing no remorse throughout the investigation or court process.”

“We are immensely grateful for the victim’s courage in reporting the offences so promptly, enabling us to build a strong forensic case.”
