Motorists are facing severe delays of over 90 minutes on the M25 anti-clockwise in Kent, with traffic heavily backed up between Junction 4 (Orpington) and the A282 towards the Dartford Crossing.

The disruption, caused by exceptionally high volumes of traffic, has led to significant congestion along one of the busiest stretches of the orbital motorway.
Diversion in Place
National Highways has issued a diversion route and is urging drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
Motorists are advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol on road signs and take the following route:
- Exit the M25 at J4 and take the first exit onto the M25 link road towards London
- At Hewitts Roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the A224 towards Orpington
- Continue on the A224 and at the Crittall’s Corner roundabout, take the third exit onto the A20
- Rejoin the M25 at J3
Travel Advice
Drivers are being urged to re-route, delay travel if possible, or use alternative routes to avoid getting caught in the queues.
“If this closure impacts your planned route, please allow extra journey time,” a spokesperson for National Highways said. “Plan ahead, consider re-routing or delaying your journey.”
