Investigation Ongoing Following Fatal House Fire in Bedale Drive, Leicester

 

An investigation has been launched following a tragic house fire in Bedale Drive, Leicester, in the early hours of Tuesday, 10th September 2024.

Leicestershire Police were alerted by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service at 4:08 am after a fire broke out at the property, tragically resulting in the death of one individual found inside. Others at the address were treated at a hospital as a precaution.

A 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the incident but has since been released on bail as detectives continue their investigation. Despite the arrest, authorities are keeping an open mind as they work closely with fire service colleagues to determine the full circumstances leading up to the fire.

Detective Inspector Michael Chandler, leading the investigation, expressed his condolences, saying, “This is an extremely tragic incident in which a person has sadly lost their life. Our investigation is at a very early stage, and we are keeping an open mind as to what caused the fire. A dedicated team is carrying out enquiries, and we are working closely with the fire service to fully establish what has happened.

Specially trained officers are providing ongoing support to the family of the deceased, and police presence in the area has been heightened to offer reassurance to the community.
