Flat Fire in Swanscombe Believed to Be Caused by Lightning Strike

Firefighters were called to Childs Crescent in Swanscombe in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 8) after reports of a flat roof on fire. Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dispatched two fire engines to the scene.

Crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, quickly extinguished the flames using high-pressure hose reel jets. The KFRS Volunteer Response Team was also on hand to assist.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. Early investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a lightning strike, with the blaze being ruled as accidental.

Firefighters remained on scene until the situation was under control, with operations concluding just after 3:30 AM. The local community has been urged to remain vigilant, particularly during periods of stormy weather.

The Kent Fire and Rescue Service thanked residents for their cooperation and reassured the public that the situation had been safely resolved.
