The community is in mourning following the tragic death of 16-year-old Tyrese Johnson, who drowned at Lodge Farm Reservoir on Tuesday evening. West Midlands Police confirmed that the incident occurred around 6 PM when Tyrese, who had just completed his school year, encountered difficulties while in the water.
Despite immediate rescue efforts, Tyrese could not be saved, and his body was recovered the following day by police divers. The loss has left his family and friends devastated, with his family describing him as a “kind loving young man with a heart full of gold” and “simply irreplaceable.
In a heartfelt tribute, Tyrese’s family expressed their profound grief, “Tyrese, words can’t describe what you meant to us as a family, your loving devoted mom, your brother, dad, your niece and nephew. You were a warm, gentle, kind-hearted soul.”
Chief Superintendent Anthony Tagg of the Dudley Command added his condolences, stating, “Our deepest sympathies remain with Tyrese’s family and friends. The shock of his death has devastated the whole community, and we share that grief.”
The incident has been referred to the Coroner, and Tyrese’s family has requested privacy as they mourn. The community has come together in support, with many remembering Tyrese for his vibrant spirit and generous nature.
