Fire Crews Called to Farnborough Railway Station after being attacked by objects

Fire Crews from Rushmoor were called to Farnbrough Railway Station in the early hours this morning. Crews were called  to Union Street in the town just after 3am on Tuesday. Part of the station remains sealed off as does the main ticket office as a result of  the incident that involved unknown objects being thrown at the station. Three appliances responded to the  incident of a report that a building was on fire. On arrival crews found a number of  rubbish  bins had been set alight.  South West Trains have advised that the main ticket office would not be opening this morning  as a result of the incident, advising passengers to use machine on the Platform. Crews have made a number of  checks a around the station.  One fire crew remains on scene  and has done for the past two hours awaiting the arrival of station staff. The station remains open with trains stopping but  areas are cordon off being guarded by officers from British Transport Police. A spokeswoman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue service said “That they would be working with partner agency’s at first light along with British Transport Police.  An arson task force officer is also attending the  scene to recover evidence of the attack.  A spokesman for British Transport Police said “They where unable to comment at the present time.” Pic: Rushmoor
