Eight people have been arrested after a missing man from Dorking was safely found and taken to hospital, Surrey Police have confirmed.

The man, in his 30s, was reported missing from Rough Rew, Dorking, following a concerning incident where he appeared to be forced into a car by two masked men, prompting a major police investigation.

Officers from Surrey Police, supported by specialist teams, launched an urgent search operation and pursued multiple lines of inquiry. In a statement issued on Sunday, 27 April, police confirmed that the missing man had been located and taken to hospital for assessment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Five men and three women have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap and related offences. All eight individuals remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Hicks, the Senior Investigating Officer, said:
“Since we received the report yesterday, officers across Surrey Police have been working tirelessly to bring this man safely back to his family. We now have eight people in custody and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the community.”

He added: “Our investigation continues to understand the full circumstances of what happened, and we would still encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Rough Rew area between 12pm and 12.30pm on Saturday, 26 April, or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage, to contact them quoting reference PR/45250049386. Information can be shared via Surrey Police’s online portal, Facebook private message, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

Officers have also urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information or speculation online, warning that it could jeopardise the ongoing investigation and cause unnecessary alarm in the community.

Uniformed officers will continue to maintain a presence in the Dorking area to provide reassurance and support to residents.
