Detectives Investigating The Murder Of Trei Daley In Hackney Wick Have Charged A Second Man

Mawien Mawien, 38 of Portland Close, Romford, has been charged with murder, Section 18 wounding of another man and possession of a bladed article.

He is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates Court on Friday, 24 February.

An investigation was launched after police were called at around 4.30am on Saturday, 11 February, to two people having presented at an east London hospital; both having suffered stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of medics, one of the men died at the hospital. His family were informed and he was identified as Trei Daley, aged 26, of Bromley, south London.

It was established that Trei was stabbed near to the Colour Factory nightclub in Queen’s Yard, which is just off White Post Lane in Hackney Wick.

A post-mortem examination held on Tuesday, 14 February found the cause of death to have been a stab wound to the chest.

The second man, aged 24, was discharged from the hospital later that same day.

Christopher Appiah-Blay, 35 , of Wick Road, Hackney, was charged on Tuesday, 14 February, with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on the same day and was remanded in custody.

A trial has been set for 2 April 2024 at the Old Bailey.
